Subi Vidya Foundation (SVF) conducted a workshop on “The Green Campus: Turning Waste into Resources” at the DMI College of Engineering, Nazarethpet, Chennai, in partnership with Greenrich Grow India P. Ltd., Chennai.
The workshop highlighted the importance of waste segregation at source and a change in mindset—from treating waste as something to be discarded to recognizing it as a resource. SVF Founder & Chairman delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the role of students and educational institutions in creating cleaner and more sustainable campuses.
Experts from Greenrich introduced participants to waste-management and composting technologies, showcased their equipment and solutions, and demonstrated selected products. Students and faculty also had an opportunity to understand how organic waste from canteens, gardens and other campus activities can be converted into useful resources such as compost.
We are reproducing the written feedback from the college:
“The workshop was very informative and gave me a better understanding of waste management and how household waste can be converted into useful manure. I found the concept of an eco-friendly dustbin particularly interesting, as it showed how waste can be managed effectively at the source itself. The presentation also helped us understand the current waste-management scenario, including the role of dump yards and the challenges involved. It was inspiring to learn from the keynote speaker’s experience in initiatives related to converting waste into manure at Koyambedu. Overall, the session was practical, informative, and made me realise the importance of responsible waste segregation and sustainable waste management.”
The enthusiastic participation of students and faculty made the workshop a valuable step towards promoting environmental responsibility, resource recovery and the Green Campus movement.
Less Waste. More Resource. Greener Tomorrow.
